Open: Jesus, thank You for loving me. Teach me today.
Read: Read Isaiah 53:5 aloud — 'he was wounded for our transgressions… with his stripes we are healed.'
This year you get to follow the life of Jesus, the Saviour God promised long ago. But did you know that God promised Jesus hundreds of years before He was born? About 700 years earlier, a prophet named Isaiah wrote these words: "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities... and with his stripes we are healed." A transgression is when we break God's law — in other words, our sin. Isaiah was saying that the Saviour would be hurt and wounded, not because He did anything wrong, but to take the punishment our sins deserved. And by His wounds, we could be healed and made right with God. Think about that: long before you were ever born, God already had a plan to rescue you through Jesus. Thank God today for planning your rescue so long ago.
Talk about:
- Who was wounded for us? (Jesus!)
- How long before Jesus? (About 700 years!)
Remember: "Jesus was wounded to heal us" — touch your hands, then place them over your heart.
Pray: God, thank You for planning to rescue us long before we were born.
